"John Alley was my favourite accompanist. When performing we shared an understanding that did not need words. HIs musicality and sensitivity and his innate understanding of song made him a very special associate and made performing a joy. Recently, for me, John recorded a backing track for 'An die ferne Geliebte' of Beethoven that I could use to rehearse with a graduating student who was not yet ready to take the traditional slower tempo. I simply explained to John what tempi I needed ,listing some metronome markings, and I now have a perfect backing for this young singer. John's love of song has remained together with his understanding of what the voice needs in a supportive accompaniment. It is exciting that one can now draw on this great resource."

"These are a must for any singer needing an accompaniment. John's playing is beautiful but his knowledge of the repertoire means he provides an entirely sympathetic and musical accompaniment."
